Who we are
Helping Local Schools
PCC... More than just building a hospital!
Another piece of infrastructure which is very deficient in southern Sudan is the school system. Here in the States, we often take a lot of our infrastructure for granted. Imagine trying to teach or being a student in a building where the walls are made of mud and sticks. When it rains, the wind drives the rain through the building and turns everything to mud! And to top it all off, they use empty aid canisters for seats and a broken piece of chalkboard propped up against the wall. Desks you ask? They are happy to have a roof over their head! What about books and other supplies?
Thanks to a gracious God and the support of people like you, PCC has been able to make significant contributions to the local schools. Thanks to another organization, the primary school, which consists of grades 1-8 and strives to teach about 400 students, now boasts solid block walls, large chalkboards and concrete floors. PCC raised enough funds to also provide the schools with the most basic of school supplies: paper, notebooks, pencils, and sports equipment! The secondary school consisting of grades 9-12 were also supplied with textbooks, encyclopedias, maps, and books to begin a small library.
Just look at the smile on the students’ faces!
