Now Safe Drinking Water Needed!
The World Health Organization says that more than 3.4 million people die every year from water related diseases making it the leading cause of death around the world. Children are most susceptible to the viruses and bacteria in unsafe drinking water which is often contaminated by raw sewage or animal feces.
We often take our clean water for granted. We simply turn on the faucet and out comes fresh clean water, no questions asked! What if you had to go to a pond like the one in the picture to obtain your drinking water? People bathe in the pond, animals defecate in the pond, and it is often filled with green algae. Does that seem healthy?
Thankfully, there is a very simple and cost effective solution that you can help provide for the people of Sudan, a water filter! There are many different types of water filters and water purification systems available, however PCC has recently discovered one that will work perfectly in the Sudanese environment. One of PCC’s 5 year goals is to have the Memorial Christian Hospital be self sufficient and generate enough income through its services to run and maintain the hospital. Therefore, we will in turn sell the water filter for a very nominal fee to the local Sudanese and 100% of the sale price will go directly to the Hospital to help bring it one step closer to self sufficiency!
