Meet Dave and Joy Mueller

Dave and Joy Mueller are now part of the team of Partners in Compassionate Care. They and their three sons, Ian, Forrest and Cameron moved to Werkok on January 12, 2007. Dave and Joy have served in Papua, New Guinea for sixteen years with New Tribes Mission, much of that time working and living in remote jungle locations.

Dave’s responsibilities included building construction, overseeing indigenous workers, servicing machinery, and maintaining electrical and plumbing projects and even working with a fork lift and backhoe. He is a “bundle of energy” and has a reputation for being a very hard worker.

Joy home schools her sons and will be spending much of her day doing that, as well as trying to maintain a home for her family in an extremely primitive and remote area.

While in Papua, New Guinea, Joy oversaw the daily operations of a medical clinic and was also the manager purchaser for that facility. She comes to PCC with a very high recommendation regarding her work there. She also was responsible for maintaining and nurturing relationships with government health officials and neighboring health facilities. Joy also exhibits strong skills in communication and management. Previously having been a Women’s Work Coordinator, she also has extensive experience in working with women in other cultures.

Dave and Joy have also served as orientation personnel for new missionaries.

Having already learned other languages, they are intent on learning the Dinka language. They have had experience in translation work and also coordinated the culture and language learning program for new missionaries and associates in their previous positions. They have also assisted in translation work.

They have a strong belief in the effectiveness of teaching the bible using the Chronological teaching method. Their goal is to be able to do that in the Dinka language as well.
