Letter from the Chairman
May 17, 2007
Dear Friends of the Sudanese people,
The task to which God has called us is humanly impossible but we serve a God who loves to do the impossible. Thank you for your prayers and support. In April 2006, an empty field chosen by the Sudanese people was dedicated for the Werkok Hospital compound. And now, one year later……
The Sudanese Community has:
- Provided labor and materials to construct a fence around 3 acres of the land to keep animals from entering the compound.
- Provided labor and materials to construct 4 temporary tukuls (thatched roof mud huts) for sleeping and a large dining tukul for eating.
- Dug 2 latrines and assisted in the construction of two shower facilities.
The Compound now includes:
- A well with a hand pump
- A completed generator building and diesel generator
- The exterior walls, windows and doors of the hospital are constructed; including a lightning protection system and two-thirds of the concrete floor is poured (by hand!).
- The Self Contained Air Conditioned Operating Room Container is in place and ready for use.
God has provided caring and loving personnel:
- The Mueller family, who have had 15 years experience as missionaries in Papua New Guinea are living on the compound. Their expertise is in construction, linguistics and biblical teaching.
- Mary, a Sudanese woman, to serve as cook and serve as a Dinka language teacher to Joy
- Peter, a Sudanese Christian man serving as Community Liaison Director
- Forty short term volunteers that helped with construction, teaching and medical work during this past dry season
In addition to the construction work:
- Short term medical clinics were conducted
- 120 Sudanese Pastors participated in a two week Pastor's leadership Conference,
- The Jesus film in Dinka was viewed
- Women and Children's Bible classes were conducted

God has miraculously provided all of the funds needed thus far, but more will be needed to finish building the first phase of the hospital compound. This will enable us to get the materials necessary to complete the hospital building by April 2008, and also assist in completing construction of the missionary and volunteer housing, a more permanent dining and shower and bath room facility and an educational building for teaching English and for medical training. Please consider what God would have you give. We need your help.
God’s Word promises in Luke 6:38 “If you give, you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full measure, pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, and running over. Whatever measure you use in giving – large or small – it will be used to measure what is given back to you.” NLT - We pray God’s richest blessing will be yours as we partner together to bring hope and healing to Sudan.
