The Vision for a Hospital at Werkok

Partners in Compassionate Care is leading an effort to build a Christ-centered teaching hospital in the village of Werkok in Southern Sudan. It will include a training facility to prepare Sudanese caregivers for serving more remote locations.

The hospital will be built in multiple phases. Our approach recognizes the area's damaged infrastructure now being rebuilt and includes contingency plans to accommodate delays and setbacks. The plan also allows time to raise funds and recruit mission/building teams.

Interim Facility

Temporary facility to include two operating rooms and four examination rooms, limited x-ray and lab facilities, generator, well, staff showers and latrines, and up to three tent-based temporary wards. Also permanent facility site preparation, tree planting, raised footing, workshops, and housing for teams.

Permanent Facility Maternity and Surgical

Expanded surgical facilities, maternity ward, and pharmacy in a permanent 50-bed facility, with housing for hospital personnel.

Pediatric and Private Wards

Pediatrics, private and open wards, infectious diseases ward, and housing for remaining hospital staff.

Outpatient Clinic

Integrated outpatient clinic.

HIV/AIDS and Medical Training Center

Voluntary counseling and testing ward and HIV/AIDS ward plus specialized medical training facilities for Sudanese caregivers.
