Memorial Christian Hospital Phase 1 Dedication Ceremony
It is amazing to see the miracle God is performing in Sudan at the Memorial Christian Hospital! In 2006, Partners in Compassionate Care began construction of the hospital in an empty grass field alongside a dirt road. God provided us with many volunteers and gracious donors which allowed us to complete Phase I in three short building seasons.
With God’s blessing, we have brought hope and healing to the people of Southern Sudan. Countless lives have been touched through our delivery of medical, dental, vision, and spiritual care. With the completion of Phase I, PCC is now beginning its next phase to use the hospital as a platform to spread the Gospel and further deepen the love for Christ, the Sudanese so desperately desire.
While we still have plenty of building projects and infrastructure improvements to complete, we are learning everyday what it takes to ‘run’ a hospital and the financial burden we have undertaken to make the Memorial Christian Hospital a place of hope, healing, and worship!
Our last building season saw the delivery and installation of a water tower! We now have an electric pump in the well and no longer rely on the hand pumped well for our water supply. We installed a septic system and flushing toilets which future volunteers will appreciate! We have also completed a new building which is designed to hold a medical x-ray system in the future.
More improvements were made to the hospital compound including the beginning of raised walkways between buildings to help movement around the compound during the muddy rainy season. A new satellite system was also installed and we have improved our ability to communicate with the hospital and even installed a Wi-Fi hotspot for others to access email and the web!
